Joined by pianist Matīss Žilinskis, double bassist Toms Poišs and drummer Rūdolfs Dankfelds, the quintet will once again revisit and reinterpret gems from the jazz classics (and beyond) with an aristocratic flair.

‍At the first concert, audiences enjoyed such pieces as Corcovado, Lush Life, Atvadas vasarai, Dedicated to You, Nature Boy, Paul Simon’s Still Crazy After All These Years, Blue Trane, I'm A Fool to Want You, Kāpēc, Liquid Spirit, Hallelujah I Love Her So, as well as Matīss Žilinskis’ Sulīgā dzīve, composed especially for the quintet with an ironic reference to Billy Strayhorn’s legendary composition and the quintet’s name.

‍Which of these pieces will remain in the programme for the quintet’s second premiere Vol. 2, and what new gems will be added is something the organisers are not revealing just yet. One thing is certain – audiences can expect some remarkable musical surprises.

The project draws its inspiration from one of the most iconic recordings featuring male vocals and tenor saxophone – the legendary 1963 album John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman.

The 2026 Pink Noise Riga Autumn Session will begin on the evening of November 20 at Hanzas Perons with a special musical and gastronomic performance featuring leading Latvian jazz soloists. On Friday, November 27, M/House of Jazz will kick off the festival weekend, on Saturday, November 28, Intars Busulis and the Lush Life Quintet will return to Daile Music House for their second premiere while on Sunday, November 29, the Autumn Session will culminate at Dailes Theatre with the Latvian debut of legendary Wynton Marsalis and the world-famous Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra.
