Intars Busulis Lush Life Quintet
Vol. 2

Intars Busulis and the Lush Life Quintet will return to Pink Noise Riga for their second premiere – Vol. 2!Joined by pianist Matīss Žilinskis, double bassist Toms Poišs and drummer Rūdolfs Dankfelds, the quintet will once again revisit and reinterpret gems from the jazz classics (and beyond) with an aristocratic flair.

‍At the first concert, audiences enjoyed classics like Corcovado, Lush Life, Atvadas vasarai, Dedicated to You, Nature Boy, Paul Simon’s Still Crazy After All These Years, Blue Trane, I'm A Fool to Want You, Kāpēc, Liquid Spirit, Hallelujah I Love Her So, as well as Matīss Žilinskis’ Sulīgā dzīve (Lush Life) composed especially for the quintet with an ironic reference to Billy Strayhorn’s legendary composition and the quintet’s name.

Which of these pieces will remain in the programme for the quintet’s second premiere Vol. 2, and what new gems will be added is something that organisers are not revealing just yet. One thing is certain – audiences can expect some remarkable musical surprises.

The project draws its inspiration from one of the most iconic recordings featuring male vocals and tenor saxophone – the legendary 1963 album John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman.
